This area includes Vancouver, Surrey, New Westminster, Richmond, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Langley, Langley, Delta, Pitt Meadows, White Rock, Port Moody, Anmore, Belcarra, Lions Bay and Bowen Island.

The second largest concentration of population in the British Columbia area is located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. This includes Greater Victoria, Saanich, Victoria, Esquimalt, Oak Bay, View Royal, Highlands, Colwood, Langford, Sidney, Metchosin and Sooke.

      The economy in British Columbia mainly centers around resource industries such as forestry and mining. Over the years employment in the resource sector has fallen leading to the replacement of new jobs in the construction and retail/service sectors.

The IT computer industry is another industry in British Columbia that is growing in size. Video game makers and web development companies dominate this industry.

The Vancouver area, is also well known as Hollywood North. Being the third largest feature film production location in North America and has provided a hot bed for film talent. Los Angeles and New York are the only two cities in North America that film more movies.
